It would appear that (on my computer at least) Usenet has thrown some
kind of fit today, as it's suddenly started to regurgitate long
forgotten posts from months ago in a big way.


Something is afoot, certainly.

My connection to the news-server is usually non-existent between about
17:30 to about 22:45, but I've still got access at 19:00.

Perhaps it's been fixed?
