I got given a bagfull of lovely shallots grown by my NE Vic-based FIL and
thought they tasted wonderful compared with the bog standard brown
onions. I nearly fainted at the price of them in the supermarket though.

save some of the shallots and plant them next month. They grow and form
cloves like garlic.
Oh. I do have some of the little ones left. Will they do?

Got nothing to lose. I grew some from seed years ago but took a while to get
anywhere. What impressed me was how they formed their cloves and any I
missed came up the next year and formed more. Unfortunately I got greedy and
ate them all and forgot to plant more out.
