Default Who's a Christmas Tree mulcher?

Many applications can be performed recycling christmas trees.

1. top dress around trees and gardens (do not incorporate in to soil)
2. make a teepee for supporting climbing plants.
3. windbreaks for outdoor winter activities
4. fish breeding and refuge reefs =

5. coastal marsh restoration
6. sand dune reclamation
7. backyard bird feeder (hang suet balls or popcorn/cranberry strands
from branches
8. brushpile for backyard (wildlife habitats)
9. use needles for sachet (dry) or potpourri (simmer in water)
10. use tree mulch for dusty roads, horse trails, fence lines and
walking paths
11. use boughs for covering bulbs and perennials
12. cut up your tree for next years fireplace wood

That names a few applications. My 3 favorite ones are fish reefs, sand
dune reclamation and coastal marsh restoration. Fish reefs are sunken in
lakes and sand dunes are reclaimed by staking down trees on beaches.
Coastal marsh restoration is done with volunteer labor, Army
helicopters, and a wood fence to lay the trees in. The limbs of the
individual trees are tightly bound together with twine to create the
compact woody mass needed to slow the water velocity and promote
sedimentation. The water flows through the fenced tree barrier and
allows the sediment to build on the back side thus reclaiming the marsh
soil.

These are just a few ways to keep trees out of landfills and to return
to earth what was taken from her after celebrating the holidays.

Think organic and practice the 3 R's.
