OK. First thing to do is create a "dummy" mail folder on
the computer you want to transfer the folder to.
To do this, run Outlook Express on the TARGET pc, then
Click File New Folder
Give it the name that you want the new folder to be called
e.g. "Archive" (it can always be renamed later if needed).
Then go into your inbox and COPY any email from there to
your new folder. This step is important because it forces
OE to create a new file for your new folder. Now close the
OE program. This is important too.
Next, run OE on the other PC. You need to know where it
stores its email files/folders. So click:
Tools Options Maintenance (tab) Store Folder
By default the folder is in a ridiculous long path
including an identity. Run Windows Explorer and navigate to
the folder specified above. In there you will find several
email files including inbox.dbx, sent items.dbx and
possibly others. Copy the file you want to transfer to a
memory stick etc and (importantly) rename the file to the
name of the folder you created on the other computer e.g.
"Archive". Leave the file extension unchanged at dbx (if it
is visible).
You need to find out where the target pc stores its emails
in the same was as above Tools Options etc...
Copy the new file (Archive.dbx) into that directory
replacing the dummy copy of the file we created earlier.
Job done. Start Outlook Express on the target machine and
the new folder and all the emails in it will appear.
