I forgot to mention "Body of Secrets: Anatomy of the Ultra-Secret
National Security Agency" by James Bamford. It seems to have become the
difinitive account of the Israeli attack on the U.S.S. Liberty, pages
187 to 239. It was even cited in "The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign
Policy" by John J. Mearsheimer and Stephen M. Walt, as the only history
of the aqttack. The book is a critical view of American foreign policy
but still pro-Israeli.
