Default Drying Bamboo

Tom,
Denature alcohol speed up the drying process in green wood bowl turning. I
tried it with bamboo and it seems to work too. I pour the alcohol in a 3
inch x 36 inch PVC tube with one end sealed and soak the bamboo in the
solution for a couple of days. Then take it out and let it naturally air
dry.

Jim,
4-5 inch diameter sounds like moso. how much bamboo are you drying? where do
you live? maybe the climate has to do with the splitting.

Is there a special way of drying bamboo or season to cut it? I've been
cutting it and just leaving it and lots of it has split and is now fairly
useless?
TIA
Jim

TBH I'm not sure what variety it is...It grows to a height of approx 35ft
and has a rough diameter of 4-5 inches.
It doesn't show any peculiar markings or colours.
