Default Mosquito solution anyone?

It's a small yard but there seems to be a ton of mosquitos. I think
they're the Asian Tiger type since they have stripes and the bite
isn't too irritating. There isn't any standing water around. They seem
to like one particular monster of a plant though; at least going in
that area produces a cloud of mosquitos.

The plant is a collection of bulbs in one big root ball; it produces
flowers, blue I think, along long stems that rise from the leaves. I'd
hate to pull it out but something about the way it grows seems to
promote the growth of mosquitos. At least I'm going to have to trim
that area.

Apparently none of the zapper type electronic things actually work?
Since the area is fairly small, I was more hopeful. I don't want to
spray because I let my cats into the yard and don't want them to get
sick. The yard is fenced in so the cats can't leave the yard.
Unfortunately, they don't seem to feel that eating mosquitos is worth
the effort of catching them.

Any suggestions appreciated.
