³For many years, SNiP has provided our customers with free access to
USENET newsgroups. Due to the limited use of this service by our
customers, SNiP will be suspending this service beginning Tuesday, June
24, 2008.

Customers who wish to continue to receive this service can subscribe on
their own to a third-party news provide such as Giganews
(www.giganews.com). Giganews offers plans starting at $7.99 per month
and unlimited plans starting at $24.99 per month. Some newsgroups can
also be accessed via the web through Google Groups (groups.google.com),
which is a free service. Other providers can easily be found by looking
up the word "Usenet" in a search engine of your choice.³

I went with supernews for the binaries. Giganews bought supernews.

For the po' folk, working poor, rural folks that don't have access to
hi-speed access; there exists still internet service providers that have
their own usenet (genuine) new servers free of charge. Phone modem is
adequate for text as normally used in newsgroups except for those
downloading copied movies, nude movies, and child porn.

If you don't know the difference, check out the definition of usenet/ news
server vs. instances like giganews and its sister Google for news. Usenet,
and, news servers that hold usenet data, have been around much, much longer.

For that matter, except in the cases where you have to download large data
like SP3 for XP, most people don't really need hi speed internet. Unless,
of course, you're into nudity, illegally copied movies, or, child porn.

Speculation on a product or material that is
an obvious need, is not speculation per se
as there is no risk to the speculator.
Common were those selling food and other
supplies in the gold rush days.
In this case, its oil and its everyone who
bites the bullet. And most everyone has no gold
to be made, just business as usual.
