Beautiful! I love the scent of Phlox.....
No idea about what the camera stuff is about but hopefully will some day....

The Odd-Ball

I bought some root stock of oriental poppy and phlox paniculata this
year to plant together in a bed. Because these roots were very small,
as most mail-order plantings are, I over-planted the bed with some
nasturtium to have color there this year. Lo, the phlox is blooming in
its first year, and 3-4 weeks earlier than my other p. paniculata too.
The poppy are looking healthy also, so maybe next Spring I'll have
some of those too.

I had to do a little post-processing manipulation in this image. I
used center-weighted metering, but with my usual -1/3-stop and the
white in the middle, the first shot was way under-exposed. I could see
that on the camera LCD, so I took this second shot at a +2/3EV to
compensate for the white in the middle. This still left the white a
little too washed out and the green a little too dark, so I added
detail to the light area with the "Recovery" function in Lightroom,
and more detail to the darker areas with the "Fill Light" function.
The result is pretty well balanced IMO, and a good approximation of
what I actually saw.
