I am afraid I have set my system to automatically delete any email
purporting to come from banks or building societies having been assured
they never email so all such emails are scams,

But that doesn't apply to all banks..

Both my online banks do send me emails.

My bank only rarely send me emails, they have an internal messaging
system, but there is a special way of recognising their emails.
I am still wary of clicking any links in them though...
