Default Fish Tale: "Garbo" the reclusive fish

My koi (butterfly) were in hiding most of the time when they were small.
Once they became large they would swim to the surface in formation ( it
really was beautiful) and they did come to eat but I never made pets of them
as many koi people do. If memory serves me right, they were about 8" before
I saw much of them. They do seem to prefer their own. So the 3 of them
were almost always together and I never saw them school with the goldfish.
I don't imagine they would like being alone.

1 week later... still no sign of "invisible/antisocial fish." It's not
a matter of "training" it to feed, never had the chance in now nearly
2 months. My pond is kidney shaped and mostly above ground (A. so I
won't fall into it and B. I can sit on the wall and feed them). Since
I had written off the fish in my mind earlier, I'm not too worried nor
expect to see it again - if so, it will be a pleasant surprise. Yes,
I've chummed near the presumed hole. The ONLY recent sighting was when
the new fish must've stirred it. I can't imagine it living through the
winter like that in the outer ring of interior rocks that line the
liner. Strange - I've been told Koi like to be a part of group - the
more the merrier.
