Default Abundence project on bbc breakfast

Mary Fisher writes
No, it's crazy. What's worse is that a neighbour bought and got his
lady to plant and build frames for runner beans for year and never
picked them. He bought a plastic greenhouse and she grew tomatoes and
they never ate them. Their beautiful pear tree produces succulent fruit
- which drops to the ground.

I asked why - cats, apparently, they couldn't bear the thought of
eating things which had been sprayed.

I wonder what they think has happened to vegetables that they buy?
