"Researchers in Switzerland claim to have proved a long-standing theory
about
prions: that the proteins couple up to breed mad cow disease. Their
experiments
should fuel the search for a cure"
Why would anyone waste money on a cure for a disease that is so rare it
would never recover the research costs? Unless prions cause a disease that
will make money for the people that produce the drug it just a won't
happen.
