Went to the Kew Bridge Steam Museum a couple of weekends ago and they had
their WW11 thing going on. An annual event.
Everyone dressed in WW11 clothes, including a spiv in sharp suit carrying
a briefcase of nylons, and lots of stuff about growing your own and
mending a making do and how to cook with the rations, powdered egg etc.
The Canteen was serving Spam Fritters and Corned Beef Hash etc. Excellent
day out.
They even had some of the huge pumping engines working, unfortunately not
the 90 inch bore one that originally stood where they hold the Chelsea
Flower Show. (to get back on topic)
