I don't know if suing the farmer will get you anywhere. The problem

problem, he can hardly be at fault
Suing the seller is the correct procedure. It may not be the farmer's
fault but s/he is responsible for what they sell. In turn they may be
able to sue whoever sold them bad materials.
The weed killer in question carried a warning to the user that any manure
from animals fed forage from the pasture should not be used for fertilising
crops or words to that effect so the responsibilty still lies with the
farmer surely?
