Hi.
Every now and then I see a small tree with 1" diameter yellow orange
fruit. The leaves
are dark green, about 6" long, shiny on top and dusty looking
underneath, and with
parallel veins radiating form a central vein. It looks almost like a
guava except the
fruit has 4 large brown seeds about 3/8" diameter. The flowers are
already gone. Similar
to this: http://www.tradewindsfruit.com/brazilian_guava.htm
Any one have any ideas what it could be?
Thanks.
Loquat...
WooHoo!!! Thats it!
Thank you.
Now to get some to eat and plant, but don;t eat the seeds
My Loquat is very frustrating. Only one year out of a bunch was the fruit
large enough to be worth the trouble. Probably just needs some extra care.
And, the annual fruit drop and fly infestation is always a pleasure, right
outside the front door. But, they are easy to grow, provide flowers in
December for whatever insects need them and fruit for other wildlife...
