I've recently seen some Paphs in a Wyvales GC at Windlesham amongst the

usual Phals (also had some Cattleyas and Dendrobiums) and there were
lots in
the GC at Syon Park the other day so they are around if you look.
Longacres
GC at Bagshot always has a good display and are notoriously
cheaper/better
than most.
Alternatively for a better choice you need to look out a specialist
Orchid
Nursery in your locality but they are specialist plants and will be
more
expensive although it won't cost you to look. I may be able to help
find a
nursery, so where, roughly, are you in the UK?
I might say that most orchids are not expensive these days considering
what
they were costing just 30 years ago when the sort of Phals you seen in
the
sheds at £9.99 (or Sainsburys at £5. ! ) were costing £25 then.

I live in Harrietsham, Kent...Solaara

The nearest orchid specialists to you would seem to be ...

McBeans Orchids
Cooksbridge,
Lewes,
Sussex
BN8 4PR
Tel: 01273 400228
http://www.mcbeansorchids.co.uk/acat...nd_Phrags.html
They have about 3 acres under fully automated glasshouses.

Laurence Hobbs Orchids Ltd
Bailiffs Cottage Nursery,
Hophurst Lane,
Crawley Down,
W. Sussex RH10 4LN
Telephone 01342 715142
Phone before visiting.

You like Paphiopedilums so also look at Phragmipediums, possibly easier to
grow into a good sized specimen and not something you will find anywhere
other than a specialist nursery IME.

I have three Phalenopsis, two were 9.99 from Notcutts and a third was £5 from Sainsburys..I also have a Miltonia for 6.50..from Homebase..In Ashford, Kent, the Bybrook garden center have loads of cymbidiums...I am going there tomorrow to see if there are any Paphs..I find that the Specialist nurseries are expensive..not to mention postage and packing..Thanks to all who helped...Solaara
