These were store-bought about ten years ago and were marketed as
Stargazer Lilies...

Nice shots as usual Donn, but whoever sold these lilies to you as Stargazer
must not have seen them in bloom or if they did, they didn't know lilies
very well. Stargazer is an Oriental lily with large, very fragrant flowers
that usually bloom in July or August depending on where you are. Your
lilies are in actual fact an Asiatic hybrid variety called Lollipop. It's
one of my favourite Asiatic hybrids, but is definitely NOT Stargazer. Check
here for pictures of Stargazer:

here for Lollipop:

As you can see, the two don't look very much alike, and there's no mistaking
the fact that Stargazer is very fragrant (as are all Oriental
lilies)....some people, especially those with allergies, can't even stand
being in the same room with them if they're potted or in a bouquet.

Thanks Rick,
Those lilies I bought are not Stargazers for sure! I imagine it was me
that mixed up the identities. You are right, the Lollipop is what I
have...I'm glad to know this!
