g'day alec,

can be but some weeds may still come through it ie.,. nut grass/sedge
and cooch grass, and also teh plastic is not the best for te soil
under it as it can't breath it cna then go stale and also water may be
kept out so could end up dry. why not sue a good mulch like a spoilt
lucerne hay or pastur grass hay mulch laid to around 8"s this will
supress most weeds and feed the soils as well as keep moisture in.

It will suppress weeds as well as the proper stuff, but where will the
rain go?
