Default [IBC] fertilizing

-------Original Message-------
From: Colin Horn
What kind of fertilizer would you reccomend this time of the year for a

Japanese Black Pine? I went to the nurserey, and the owner told me i
should
use cottonseed meal. I just want to make sure this is the right kind of
fertilizer. Thanks. - Colin Orinda, CA

Hi Colin,

Cottonseed meal will be fine, but actually you can use just about any fertilizer for the pine. In Japan, rapeseed is commonly used (as is other kinds of fert.) and I'd recommend an organic like rape/cottonseed meal augmented with periodic shots of a water
soluble fert. like Miracle Gro or something like that.

Don't worry, you're not going to mess up your tree with the minutiae of fertilizing. Have at it.

Kind regards,
