Hi,

it has been dry here for some time (East coast) and looks like being dry for
some time longer.

The lawn is now starting to grow, but the preponderance of non-grass
especially clover suggests that the lawn is in sore need of a good
nitrogenous feed.

I have some lawn weed'n'feed but would prefer not to scatter hormones around
until the grass is growing more strongly.

What is a good way to feed up a lawn in a dry spell?

I am considering manure water from stable manure; I also have chicken pellet
manure but that smells a bit strong and could linger without a prolonged
rainy spell.

Any other suggestions?

[Bucket and chuckit is an option but it is a large lawn and we are few].

An additional point - the plum trees are spreading roots all over the garden
( I know that from the suckers) which suggests that there isn't much food
under the lawn for them either.
Will feeding nitrogenous stuff to the lawn also pep up the trees?
Can I over-feed the lawn so that the food sinks through to the soil
underneath without damaging the lawn?
And without killing myself with constant mowing?
I intend to feed them manure around the trunks, and possibly enlarge the
non-grassed area around them, but I suspect the whole garden is under
nourished.
