An additional point - the plum trees are spreading roots all over the
garden
( I know that from the suckers) which suggests that there isn't much food
under the lawn for them either.
Will feeding nitrogenous stuff to the lawn also pep up the trees?
Can I over-feed the lawn so that the food sinks through to the soil
underneath without damaging the lawn?
And without killing myself with constant mowing?
I intend to feed them manure around the trunks, and possibly enlarge the
non-grassed area around them, but I suspect the whole garden is under
nourished.

if u feed use a spring summer high in nitrogen and water in allow to grow
keep well watered in 2 weeks the grass will be good and strong
