Do glyphosate based weedkillers only affect green tissue? In other words
can
I carefully spray the ground elder without seriously affecting the big
mature tree paeony growing in the middle of it?

Glyphosate will attack most things it touches.

Spray carefully to avoid damage where you do not want it. Spot spray
if you can.

Dont spray in windy conditions
Dont spray on hot days ( whatever those are !) as it can rise with the
effects of heat.

I can't see it translocating to roots on a mature tree to cause a
problem.

To repeat another post from a while back, thicken glyphosate with wallpaper
paste then paint on leaves, anyone tried this method?
