Not sure what kind of sprayer you're using but if you use one with a
proper herbicide nozzle (sometimes called a flood jet) it sprays a fan
shaped sheet rather than a hollow cone of droplets. Less drift with
the herbicide nozzle and easier to see where it's going. If you can,
work against the light, then you can see a little 'rainbow' of
drifting droplets at the edge of the fan - that's what you need to
keep a sharp eye on.
I would be extremely careful about spraying very close to a tree
paeony. Don't forget Glyphosate is translocated so hitting ground
elder leaves a few inches from your paeony may be sufficient to see
the weed off safely or at least weaken it enough to make manual
removal quite easy.
