We had a thunderstorm yesterday (Sussex Weald) and had 9.3 mm of rain.
Nothing compared to the 48 mm at Haywards Heath, but very welcome, as
several shrubs have been suffering even though I'm on heavy clay.

Rainfall this year has been very odd. Here is our monthly rainfall this year
so far (the first three months include snowmelt):

May 27.4 mm
Jun 37.2 mm
Jul 15.0 mm
Aug 9.3 mm

We are very lucky that there was so much rain early in the year which filled
up the aquifers under the South Downs, so no hosepipe bans. But only 92 mm
of rain in 4 months is pretty poor.
