Never really noticed it before this year, but a few times I have
boiled potatoes they start developing black marks/stains the more they
boil. The spuds looked clean with no blights after I peel them.
Anything to worry about and why?

Blight.

Looking at pictures it doesn't appear so. The spuds are perfect to
look at (hence buying them) and while peeling you get the odd eye etc,
but once peeled they are spotless. I then chop them up to boil and
after about 15 minutes these black smears start to appear and get
darker. Seem to only be on the surface but quite large in area. Boiled
in a stainless steel saucepan and slightly salted with sea salt. It's
only ever happened once before a few months back, and could also have
been sourced at Tesco.

The blight has progressed further that's all. The picture is an
extreme case.
