Default Chainsaw blade replacement

Sharpening a chain is far easier than changing a chain "in the field"

Not on my chainsaw! :-)

Changing the chain is a matter of a couple of minutes, unscrew the
adjuster, pop the old chain off, pop the new chain on, screw up the
adjuster.

My Stihl is quick to change also. Like you I keep two chains, so one is
off getting sharpened all the time (theoretically). As someone pointed
out it's pretty cheap to do. I'm useless at the filing trick.

Nothing like a brand new chain, though!

Shoulders are still aching a bit from a downed tree that needed cutting
up this past weekend... and it was only an Alder, too.

I recommend always buying a chain with the "anti-kickback" teeth, far
the best thing for casual users. If you bring the saw into the store,
you'll be sure to get the right type of chain. Oregon is a standard
brand, decent quality at the price.
