Yes, thanks for the suggestions. I like them:

This group is designed to be used as a Usenet newsgroup.
You may be reading it via a website such as Garden Banter or
Garden Alley, which copies our messages. On such websites
you may not get access to posting unless you register with them.
With a newsreader program you have direct access to the group
without registration. You may also find that the presentation of each
message with its replies is easier to follow. If you do not already
have a
newsreader program you can choose one from the many offered he

There's more detail about where to find information about what
newsgroups
are and how to read them which is what I wanted. Thanks, RG.

I've just realised that users of Windows Mail and Windows Live Mail
already have a news client available to them. So the latest version is:

David I think that is spot on. There will now be NO EXCUSE for people on
urg carrying on about their postings being copied elsewhere.

Mike

The most vociferous pest here on that matter is you. You're the one who
'carries on' about it every time someone posts here through Garden Banter.
The rest of us usually just answer them if we can help them and inform
them on how to access urg directly. We do NOT keep on about Garden Banter
taking our posts and using them without permission on an advertising
medium. This thread is one discussion in a very long time. --

I feel you should seek advice. You seem to have a severe problem which with
suitable medication, 'could' be cured.

Kindest sympathies

Mike

Hmmm! You seem totally alone in your opinion but if you actually read
what others write in the numerous newsgroups that you haunt, you might
actually realise that you need to take your own advice. Trouble is
that you never seem to read what others write, only what you want to
see.
