Default OT aioe.org

Forgive this off-topic message but I believe some here have sometimes
collected news from nntp.aioe.org.

I'm thinking of moving from Demon news to nntp.aioe.org with a view to
closing down my Demon account altogether soon. Does anyone here use
them and, if so, are they reliable?

I've started collecting a few newsgroups from them (but not this one)
and so far they seem very good. I'm even getting messages that didn't
come to me via Demon! I've googled for information about aioe and the
only negative comments stem from January 2009 when their server went
down. For a free source of news they seem very good. They do have one
or two rules but for me they are not onerous.

Does anyone know differently?

I thank you all for your replies, although I was aware of all the points
and alternatives that you mention, having done quite some research on
the subject!

However it does seem that no-one here actually uses aioe.org which is
really what I wanted to know. I started using them a few days ago and so
far their supply of articles is excellent; as I said above, I have
received some articles which I didn't get via Highwinds. I posted the
updated Welcome message via aioe.org this morning via my automatic
posting software and it came through immediately.

I've had individual.net in mind for some time and may eventually go over
to that but, for the time being, I'll use aioe for some of my newsgroups
to test them for reliability.

So far, so good!

David
