Default First Blackberries

My allotment neighbour won't be picking any this year.
His plot backs onto a hedge and he tends the blackberry which produces
good crops. He's also been leaving a patch of nettles for the
butterflies.
The committee have employed "a man" to go round with a strimmer to
tidy all the paths and edges. He obviously got tired of grass and cut
down the nettles and brambles! Perhaps he mistook the word "edges"
for " hedges"!
