Default Magnolia seed

How do you germinate Magnolia seed? Is there any special method?

I can only speak of M. stellata.

This is very easy to germinate. I just sow it as soon as the seed heads
split and show the ripe seed. Just put it about a cm deep in good
compost (JI or any good compost), and leave out over winter. IME it
germinates well in the spring.
