Now I feel better! The other posts were making me feel stupid.

I am not totally sure what my record was since I never kept close track, but I
got a gigantic rothschildianum about 10 years ago from Val Tonkin back when
they were $10 per inch. That was a good $400 at least.

Also Vandas- $250 each for a pair of Kasem's Delight 'Robert' from RF Orchids.

But these days it is total that kills me and not per plant costs. I have gotten
to the point where I really insist on having at least 10 of a cross I want to
bloom out just to ensure I have a good shot of getting at least one keeper out
of the bunch.

Also I like the big price breaks that come with larger orders. Instead of
buying piecemeal all year, I usually make 2-3 big buys a year to take full
advantage of the price breaks.

Right now my goal is to build breeding stock for the future, so this works well
to achieve that at the best price possible.
