say lawn? It doesn't seem quite normal to say "sow a garden"

When she had already read all about how to make a lawn fron scratch, and
her post shows confident familiarity with all the correct terms and names
of the tools, it seems very contrived and artificial to so carefully avoid
the words lawn and grass.
