Horse manure mixed with multiple purpose compost?

Hi there,
Just wondered if it would be ok to mix in horse manure with my usual
compost for doing my potting plants?....neard good and bad things
about this stuff!....also is it true if you lay a small amount onto
of your plants it works as a fertiliser?......my horse manure is
roughly 5 months old so well matured.
Thanks!
Rotted horse manure provides both organic material to improve the texture
and physical properties of soil and some nutrients as well. I use large
quantities of it in the garden. There are costs, risks, drawbacks and
benefits with all soil amendments. If you know the provenance and history
of this manure and there is nothing too bad there then there is little to
worry about and with the right balance of ingredients it will make good
potting mix. Search google groups for 1000s of threads on horse manure,
where you will find some good information, some not so good and some emotive
yuk factor.
