Ortho makes the hand cranker. It's Red and called a whirly bird broadcast
spreader.

bitty grains and seeds flying out in front of you. But be careful not to
use a lot. If you are planting grass use fertilizer with lower N number
for nitrogen. Seedlings don't like lots of food. N of 23 is in the
middle and sometimes labelled starter fertilizers. People use more if
they water a lot and have a thick lawn. Roughing up bare spots with a
hand claw is about all you need to do, though if you can break the soil
more deeply it helps.

You could dig some of the sod all from one area and lift them out, then
fill the bare areas, if this seems to make sense. This is easier for me
to grow grass in one group then all over the lawn. Keep new seeding,
seedlings, and transplants watered.

The rhododendron may be suffering from a fungus, or something like
fusarium, they may be in toxic soil. Perhaps someone put much lime on
the lawn before you? Zoysia grass is unusual to me, did you choose that?
Can't help with the shrubs much, good luck. Try a ph test under them
maybe.
