Your CO2 levels will be very low with a ph that high. You will struggle
with plants unless you reduce your ph by using a CO2 injection system. Have
a look at http://www.floridadriftwood.com/whyCo2.htm for more info and do a
search on the web for info on CO2 and growing plants. The table at the
bottom of the article will show you how low your CO2 is. Before I had CO2
added to the tank, I also struggled. One plant I did have success with
before then was the java fern.
