As a last resort in the event of no contact and the birdfeeder not
turning up within reasonable time, payment can always be claimed back
from your card company. You just fill in a form and give them all the
info, payment ref numbers and photocopies of anything relevant. I had
to do it once when a previous isp tried it on by taking an extra
month's payment after I'd cancelled an account, the card co looked
into it and the payment was reversed.

That is a legal requirement for credit cards, and I think only applies
if the sum is over £100. Anything else (less than £100, or a debit
card) is based on the goodwill of the card company.

It never occurred to me about a lower limit but I believe you're right.
However, you don't get if you never ask. It was only £15 I was
incorrectly charged, but it was more the principle than the amount and I
could prove they were in the wrong. The cc company reversed the charge
without a fuss - they must have been having an unusual excess of
goodwill that day.
