If you'd caught it in time, you could have had a tasty young bamboo shoot
omelet. That's the time to murder shoots for cooking, when they're an inch or
so long and tender....

Hmmm...never thought of it.

Anyway, the panic is past. The "shoot" is growing leaves, not
flowers, so not about to die, as one kind poster warned.

Also, additional stems/shoots/whatever growing, so it's not alone,
though much taller.
