I was curious if bulbs are better bought online, in garden centres, if
it matters.. Any recommendations for specific places, particularly ones
that have an interesting selection, would be most welcome. I live in
the north of Oxfordshire.

I'm hoping to have more luck with bulbs in containers now that I'm down
south. I lived in Scotland for several years and either the climate or
the critters always did my efforts in.

It depends what you mean by bulbs. If you're simply looking for colour
in spring, you can do well for price in garden centres, and you can look
at the quality of the bulbs you're buying.

If you want something out of the ordinary, then try on-line at a
specialist bulb nursery.

What I wouldn't do is buy on-line from a generalist flower and plant
supplier.

Which ever you choose, remember to plant them as soon as possible, they
don't take kindly to being left in bags for weeks.
