Default best tomatoes

Been asked to find out if possible what the varieties of tomato are grown
by the Young Grower of the year 2011 on the isle of Wight. Their websites
just say that they grow quality strains but no mention of varieties.

I did say that whilst the variety might be good it will also be affected
by the area, soil, method of growing etc. but had to agree that the
tomatoes were really good.

Well it really was 'hard work' and took all of two minutes to post the

Can you help please?

Mike

see, I even did a cut and paste ;-)

and the following turned up ...

Hi Mike

Thank you for your query. Wight Salads grow many specialty tomatoes, many of
these varieties are only available in the UK through Wight Salads. Some of
these varieties are grown for specific customers and as such the customer
"owns" the name of that variety, other varieties only have numbers. Was
there a specific type of tomato that you were looking for and I will see if
it is one we are growing?

Kindest Regards

Kelly Pearce

Well I have been at a meeting all day, and in another one tomorrow, but I
telephoned Kelly when I got in, but she had gone. A very obliging young man
elaborated on the above and explained that each Customer will put their own
name on BUT, if it's a "Brian Moralee" tomato, then his name will be on the
label followed by a code. That code is what Wight Salad grows the tomato as.
Not a commercial name whereby you can buy the seeds and grow your own.

Hope that helps. Simple really, not brain taxing at all.

Mike
