Default Laying a lawn in November???

Hi Guys.
I'm a TOTAL newbie with my 1st ever lawn - It's a mess (even I know
that).
A local gardener is offering to lay new turf, cheap, while business is
quiet - BUT - is laying a lawn in November a good idea? I naively think
it should be done in spring, otherwise the grass will die. Am I right?

If you have something resembling a lawn I would get a lawn specialist such
as Green Thumb to 'fix' it. Much easier and much, much cheaper than new
turf.
Something else which is so easy, is to learn how to use newsgroups and not
the shitty Gardenbanter.
