For those of you who belong to gardening groups - where do you find
people to give talks?
And what talks have you had that were good?
(Or bad!)

I do think someone to give a talk on all the things you can grow over
winter might be nice.

Hardy plant society do a speakers list and normally your local library
maintain a list of contacts for clubs and organizations so you could try
asking other gardening clubs in your area. We used to have a free paper
for gardeners and they maintained a list of speakers as well

The killer is the travel costs, most speakers are very reasonable with
their fees but so many pence per mile soon adds up on a two way trip.

I do my talks for free Charlie, but if they wish to make a donation to "The
Friends of Shanklin Theatre" then that goes to a good cause. I met the
Treasurer in the road the other day and handed him a cheque for £20.00. That
was from a Civil Service Pensioners Club.
