According to today's Country Life a British man walks 224 miles behind a
lawnmower during his lifetime! Bet that's cheered you all up!

Not a lot really
20 years is 1.12 miles a year, so cutting 20 times a year give you
around 480 yards a cut.
So a 18 inch cut (not allowing for overlap) would give you a lawn of
around 30f by 90ft.
When I was teaching Mobility to visually impaired people I used to walk
well over 1000 miles a year (5 miles a day, 5 days a week 25 x 4 weeks
is 100 miles a month) and many days were well over 5 miles.
I reckon that every time I cut all my grass here I walk a good country
mile, and that's with a 30 inch cut.

I feel tired just reading that!

The council have been and mowed the 'grass' verges today. The grass
looked really dead before they did it and you couldn't tell they'd
been.

Our grass had its first cut last week but the mowers were on a high setting.

I had to mow around a snow drift!

Mike

Never let it be said that gardening is boring!
