Does anyone happen to know which Iris this is? I'm assuming it's an Iris!
For 2 or 3 years, we've had a clump of leaves in very scant soil on the
edge of a pond and this year we have flowers for the first time. It's not
in the water, though it may get a bit of dampness if any splashes over the
edge of the liner. It's obviously put itself there but we have no idea
how.

Could be Gerald Darby, (or a seedling from it)

Don't think so but thanks, Charlie. I think ours is a bit 'browner'
than that. Though, as you say, it could be a seedling. Btw, Clematis
Luccombe Park is flowering like a mad thing. Wonderful plant!

Is it Brown enough to be Holden Clough?

Clematis Lambton Park is a star isn't it, Late May to December in
flower and with seed heads until mid Feb most years

Aaagh! Lambton Park - Luccombe Oak is not like a Clematis! As to the
Iris, Iris foetidissima has been suggested.
