Organise a family garden picnic/ barbecue and spend hours preparing
special marinades, salads and desserts. Fire up barbie and set out all
the goodies in tempting manner. That might work.

Or hang out a big load of sheets and towels...the rain generally waits
until everything is _almost_ completely dry.
