Default Impatiens dying prematurely

Here in SE Michigan, I've had to give up on Impatiens walleriana, due to the
spread of Impatiens downy mildew.

Where I would used Impatiens last year, I substituted Polkadot plant
(Hypoestes phyllostachys) and was very happy:
