I have a batch of new bare-rooted roses due within the next few weeks. I
want to plant them where old rose bushes are, but am aware of the risk of
rose replant disease.

Has anybody tried this with success before, and how much depth of topsoil
should one dig out to be on the safe.side?

If you use Mycorrhizal fungus sachets then it must be in contact with the
roots, best to wet the roots and powder them with it before planting.
