Default Floods?

In article ,
says...

How are you all doing regarding flooding?

No problems here at present. Just got back from a walk
up the hill, and the view towards town shows a number
of fields with lakes in them, that were not there
before" The stream/flood down the steep field near us
that I can see out of the window has now dried up,
although there is still a lake at the top.

Road into town had a b;ocked culvert for a couple of
weeks, with a 4" stream across the road. Council fixed
that yesterday, but lewft the traffic lights in place
(just to anoy us!)

One funny flood story from before Christams. We went
into town to see the river Usk, which had overflowed
its banks the previous day. Water had subsided a lot,
but there was a large collection of water trapped
behind the river wall. Whilst chatting to a chap, I
noticed movement in the water, and thinking it was
probably a rodent wandered over to see. It was a fish,
about 9" long, trying to find its way back into the
river! As I only had shoes and decent clothes on, I'm
afraid I did not try and rescue it.
