The local multiple unit trains I've been on have had loos but they
were civilised UK ones, not ones in the US. B-)

I believe the US train(s) mentioned, were long-distance ones with
sleeping cabins and loos. My daughter traveled from Reno to Chicago on
one of them, a few years ago.
