Default help identifying vegetable plant virus/bugs

Hi all,

I have a vegetable garden & I have what I think might be the mosaic
virus on my pumpkin, squash & cucumber.

Can anyone confirm by looking at this picture of my pumpkin?

http://www.aao.gov.au/local/www/ss/tmp/pumpkin.jpg

How can I get rid of it? I tried spraying diluted milk a couple of
times but without success.

Also, I have some bugs on my spring onion:

Does anyone know what these are & how to get rid of them?

Any pointers/help would be muchly appreciated.

Scott,
I've had those black things on my chives - they can demolish a whole bunch
in a couple of days - no idea what they are, but pyrethrum spray kills them-
just make sure you give the plants a good drenching so none escape.

Not sure about the yellow spots in the pumpkin leaves, but the white ones on
top look like the start of the downy mildew that eventually takes over all
of these types of plants, you can only hope to delay its progress long
enough to get a crop. - Copper works OK, but other fungicides work better -
I found Rose Black Spot spray works quite well, but I'd not use it once
fruit had started to set. Watering by drip or subsoil helps reduce the
spread, but if you are in a warm humid climate, you will never win if you
are using overhead sprinklers.

Cheers,
Geoff
